SrimathE RaamAnujAya Nama:

Dear BhakthAs:

Sri MM stated that the first decad of the First Centum dealt
with the unparalleled Supermacy (Parathvam ) of the Lord and
the second decad about the need for us to surrender to Him
totally . The third decad dealing with Swamy NammAzhwAr's
anubhavam before and after he woke up from a trance relating
to the Soulabhyam GuNam (Ease of access)of the Lord
is summarized by MM this way:

patthu udayOrkku yenRum Paran yeLiyanAm piRappAl
  mutthi tarum maanilatthIr mooNDa anbaal
patthi seyum yenRuraittha MaaRan tann sollARp-pOm
  neduhac-chenRu piRappam anjiRai

(Prose order): Paran Patthu udayOrkku , yenRum piRappAl
yeLiyanAm. Mutthi tarum MaanilatthIr! MooNDa anbAl
patthi seyum yenRu uraittha MaaRan Tann inn sollAl
neduhac-chenRa piRappum Aaamm amm siRai pOm.

(meaning):The Lord took vibhavAthArams (Raaman & KrishNan)
to become easily accessible to His BhakthAs and to grant
them Moksham .Swamy NammAzhwAr (MaaRan) addressed
the fortunate ones residing in this vast universe
fit for His incarnation and instructed them to develop
deep prEma bhakthi for Him. Those sweet aruLiccheyalkaLs of
Swamy NammAzhwAr housed in this decad will on reflection
free one from the SamsAra-bhandhams that ties one up
far too long in His LeelA VibhUthi.

(uyir KarutthukkaL ):

(1)" PatthudayOrkku yenRum yeLiyavan"
(He is readily accessible to those , who develop
 bhakthi for Him ).

(2)" antha Paranai patthi seythAl piRavianjirai pOmm "
( If we engage in Bhakthi to that Supreme One , our
cycles of birth and deaths that keep us prisoners in
this SamsAram will be banished).

*********

The cultivation of PrEma Bhakthi to the Lord ,who is
easy to access by His BhakthAs would lead to total
self-surrender , which in turn will free Him from
future cycles of births and deaths .Such a fortunate
person will not be born again ( "na punarAvarthathE "
aphorism of Brahma Soothram ).This is indeed the message of
ChAndhOgya Upanishad( VII.xv.1) and of GithAchAryan
( GitA VIII.15-16). In the above two slOkams of
Bhagavath GitA , the Lord declares:

" Reaching the highest perfection , and having
attained Me , the great ones are no more subject to
re-birth on this earth, which is the dhukkAlayam
( the abode of sorrows)--All the worlds , Oh ArjunA ,
including the realm of BrahmA are subject to rebirth
and dissolution , but after attaining Me , Oh son of
Kunthi , there is no re-birth".

The uncanny simplicity of MM 's summary of
the profound upadEsam of Swamy NammAzhwAr in this
third decad of the first centum is awe inspiring.
Sri MM says : (1) "Paran PatthudayOrkku yenRum
yeLiyavan (2)Paran PiRappAl yeLiyavan (3)patthudayOrkku
yenRum Mutthi Tarum Paran. Therefore AhwAr according to
MM invites the BhakthAs to meditate on the Lord with
glowing and ardent devotion ( MooNDa anbAl patthi seyum).
As a result , your samsAric ties will break and you
will attain Parama Padham . These are the sweet
instructions of Swamy NammAzhwAr according to MM.

In this paasuram , MM focuses on Swamy NammAzhwAr's
upadEsam that the Lord is "piRappAl yeLiyan"
( avathAratthinAl sulabhan aanavan or One , who becomes
readily accessible as a result of His incarnation as
Raaman and KrishNan).Although He is the greatest of
the greatest (parAth Paran), He descends on this earth
by His own sankalpam. This Mutthi tarum Paran becomes
YeLiyavan to His bhakthAs . Those who understand this
avathAra rahsyams (GitA: 4.7)qualify for Moksham.

1." Patthu udai adiyavarkku yeLiyavan,
piRarkaLukku ariya Vitthahan" --TVM:I.1.3.1
( He is Parama Soulabhyan for His BhakthAs
in the spirit of the statement: "BhakthyA
vEdhmi JanArdhanam). For those without Bhakthi,
He is not easily attainable (Dhurlabhan).

2."Ahatthanan , puRatthanan"--TVM I.3.2
( He is ease of reach for Adiyavars and
inaccessible to the others).

3." Andham ill Aadhi amm Bhagavan --uNarvu koNDu
uNarnthu vaNakku Udai Tavam neRi vazhi ninRu puRam neRi
kaLai kattu pasai aRa uNakkumin "--TVM I.3.5

(Please drive away the attachment arising from
pursuit of Kaamya Maargams and devote yourself to
Bhakthi yOgam , meditate on BhagavAn's upadEsam
in Githai while supporting yourself with the staff
of NamaskAram to Him ).Anjali Vaibhavam is hinted here.

4." uNarnthu uNarnthu uraitthu iRanjumin "--TVM I.3.6

( Banish your cycles of births and deaths by learning from
BhagavathAs about the Vigraham and true SvarUpam of
the Lord , clear your doubts , teach about them (what
you have learned) , hold that jn~Anam etched in Your hearts
and then surrender to Him for MOksham ).

The upadEsam , " UpadEsAth Harim BhudhvA viramEth
Sarva Karmasu " has been linked to this passage of TVM
by UtthamUr Swamy.

5." Nammudai NaaLL Avanidai nanRU yena nalam seyvathu "--TVM I.3.7

( In our alloted life time , we should engage in
Bhakthi Yogam with unswerving mind on Sriman NaarAyaNan.
That is the most auspicious approach).

6. ivai patthum vallAr amararOdu senRu , tamm
pRavi am siRai aRuvar--TVM I.3.11

( Those who learn and practise the meanings of
these ten paasurams (of I.3.1-10) will join
the Nithya Sooris in their exalted place of
Parama Padham after destroying their horrible
prisons of SamsAram here ).
