Re: The "real" fear...

One who is liberated does not see any reason to
lament. He knows that that the ksetra jna cannot slay
nor be slain. Similarly a liberated devotee can go
through all this pain and suffering without getting
affected because he can see that he is different from
the body. Just like we dont get too much affected by
the terrorist attack because we are different from the
people who were affected. We all know that the people
in WTC or the planes were not liberated and so were
feeling pain and suffering and so would their
survivors. So a vaishnava being paro duhkha duhkhi
prays for the welfare of every one because he suffers
others pains not his own - ultimately for all of our
emancipation but also for temporary relief. The sages
in naimisaranya who discussed Bhagavatham did that.
They were liberated and do not identify with the pain
or pleasure of the body or mind. Narada, Sudharshana
and so many others gave ways for temporary relief
alongside permanent relief. Following in their
footsteps the acts of these sri vaishnavas praying for
the welfare of all is laudable. It is human nature to
feel compassion. We should be above mere material
compassion. Not below it.
