That was an interesting note from Sri Mani on "Mahacharya". There is
another great AchAryA with the name of "mahAchArya". He is none other
that the great sOLasimhapuram DoddAchAr swamy. It is for this same
swamy, for who, even todate, in Kanchipuram (Thiruatthigiri), the
famous "DoddAchAr sEvai" is being done on GarduasEvai day.

He was a contemporary of Appaya dIkshitar and was the most
instrumental person in refuting all the vidhanDAvAdhams of Appayya
dIkshitar about Siva parathvam. Actually DoddAchAr swamy always kept
dIkshitar at the bay and he couldn't succeed in his mission to write
vyAkhyAnams for the upanishads based on Siva parathvam. The mAdhvAs
also played an important role in this aspect to keep dIkshitar at the
bay.

DoddAchAr swamy's kainkaryams towards Sri AkkArakkani emberumAn of
sOLasimhapuram are enormous. I will attempt to write about it later.
