Dear Ramesh, First of all, congratulations on the new addition to your family. According to the smritis as understood by South Indian brahmin pandits, if your sister-in-law is your brother's wife or related to you through a similar brotherly relationship, you should abstain from puja to your deities for 10 days. After that, you should ceremonially purify your home and begin your pujas once again. If your sister-in-law is related through your wife, I believe you are free to continue your pujas. Of course these customs vary from region to region and from community to community. In my opinion you should place some weight on your family customs at least for the sake of harmony within your household an compromise in some fashion, if it is necessary.
