In Srivaishnava tradition Prapatti is described as a marriage between the individual asking for the Prapatti and Sriman Narayana. Marriage signifies service to the husband. The husband that is served in this case is Sriman Narayana. While a woman no longer puts on a bottu if she were to become a widow, the Srivaishnava Tilakam is put for life as this marital relationship once established does not cease in this world and beyond.
