Dear Bhagavatas,

On October 28-29, only a few days from now, we will be
celebrating the holy advent of two of our dearest acharyas in
Chicago at Sri Venkatesvara Swami temple, Aurora, Illinois. This
utsavam in honor of the tirunakshatrams of Sri Vedanta Desika and
Sri Manavaala Maamunigal is being jointly organized by Sri
Ramanuja Mission of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam and JETUSA
of Sri Sri Tridandi Sriman Narayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar
Swami. This is the first time in the United States where the
tirunakshatrams of Swami Desika and Swami Manavaala Maamunigal
are being jointly celebrated.

We invite each and everyone of you to come to Chicago and
participate in this event. Arrangements are being made by the
local volunteers to make sure that this celebration is very
valuable to the participants. We currently have many devotees
already signed up on the website (http://jeeyar.cc.uic.edu) from
many locations in the United States - San Francisco, New Jersey,
Pittsburgh, Tennessee, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Denver etc., - and
many more are coming who haven't formally signed up yet. This
will add to the big Sri Vaishnava community of devotees in
Chicago, who regularly honor Lord Venkateswara with recitations
of the sri suktis of our Alvars and acharyas.

Attached is the original appeal. Please do come and join us for this
joyous event.

Dear Bhagavatas,

Sri Ramanuja Mission and Jeeyar Educational Trust USA (JET USA)
are pleased to announce the celebration of the tirunakshatrams of
Swami Sri Vedanta Desika (1268 - 1369) and Swami Sri Manavaala
Maamunigal (1371 - 1443) on October 28th and 29th, 2000, at Sri
Venkateswara Swami temple, Aurora, Illinois.

HH Sri Rangaramanuja Maha Desikan (Srimushnam Andavan) of
Srirangam Srimad Andavan Ashramam and HH Sri Sri Sri Tridandi
Sriman Narayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swami have blessed us all
to proceed with the function.

This joint celebration is organized with the following objectives in
mind:

 1. To seek the blessings of our great acharyas by celebrating their
    tirunakshatrams and following their teachings.
 2. To promote unity among people wanting to follow the Vedic tradition
having different acharya lineage (parampara) with focus on the common
theme - our divine link through Sri Ramanuja (Emberumaanaar).
 3. To create interest and provide support for families interested in
    following the Vedic tradition.

With the above three objectives in mind, the agenda is tailored to
have the following key items:

 1. Talks focussing on the teachings of our acharyas and their humility and
    lifestyle.
 2. Open panel discussions on
    (i) relevance of temples and their role in the current age
(ii) how to follow our tradition with appropriate compromises
         in this country
 3. Devotional songs and dances.
 4. Temple celebrations (utsavams) with recitation of Divya Prabandham,
Veda Parayanam and recitation of Stotra Patham

We extend our humble invitation to each and every devotee living
in this country to attend this celebration - the first of its
kind in the United States. October 8th is the tirunakshatram of
Sri Vedanta Desika (purattaasi SravaNam), and November 1st is Sri
Maaavaala Maamunigal's tirunakshatram (aippasi mUlam). Also
around October 28th, we have the following key festivals:
November 4,5,6 - tirunakshatrams of Poykai and Sri Pillai
Lokacharya , Bhutam, and Pey Alvar, respectively, October 26th -
Deepavali.

There is a web page for registration and information - the URL is

We invite your presence to help make this event a grand celebration.
