Dearest bhagavatOttamALs,
Today, being MaNavALa mAmunigaL's birthday, Let me jot down what little I
heard about him. He wrote a commentary (vyAkhyAnam) for periyAzhwAr's
Thirumozhi because periyavAchchAn piLLai's commentary for this set was
repoted to have been eated and destroyed by "karaiyAn"(termite). When
MaNavALa mAmunigaL  completed that commentary, one disciple read that and
was so much moved and excited that he wished that ALL PERIYAVACHCHAN
PILLAI'S commentaries should have been eaten by termites. It is not to talk
less of periyavAchchAn piLLai's commentaries, but to talk more of the
greatness of MaNavALa mamunigaL's commentary.
