Q: Basic tenets of srI Vaishnavism - And its applicability today.

Respected & Dear Devotees:

We have started a student group here in the Chiacgo Area 
(called Route to ROOTS -Vedic Culture),
and this group seems to be gaining momentum. 

We meet once a week and talk about our Vedic Culture. (and what we need to do
as Vedic People.) The main foucs of this student group is to learn and
practice
our culture. 

Because we are deailing with kids between 16 to 25 years of age fully
immersed in this so called "US Culture" they have questions 

1. Why do we do this.
2. What do we get out of this.

Sometimes I find the need for Marketing approcah, and give them the
message in sugar coated capsules.

Could some knowledgeable devotee please send some basic tenets of
srI Vaishnavism with reasons why we do it.
(& if possible what does the doer get in return - Something like PhalaStruti)

e.g:  Tiruvaradhanam, offer food to god before eating, have faith in Lord
Sriman Narayana, Devotion etc etc.

I am looking at putting to this group a basic 10 point or 12 point program,
with the significance of each point explained.

How are these Tenets applicable today: (to the person immersed with Student
life & Regular work)
Students have the Q's : I have homework & projects due, How is all this
going to help me today?
Those who work say: I have deadlines to meet & take care of Projects: How
is all this going to help me today?
