From the Bhakti List Archives

Dear BhakthAs :

Yesterday , I had the BhAgyam of receiving
the copy of the above 608 page monograph
that was airmailed along wiht pictures of
the Oct 11 book release Function at Chennai.

Further ,I have also received a video of
the October 11 presentation functions , where invited
scholars felicitated Sri PerukkAranai Swamy on
this "Commentary of Commentaries". Although
the perrenial noise from the cars and scooters
around Desika Bhavanam ( site of the celebrations)
made it difficult to hear well the speeches of
the scholars on dais , I got a good feeling for
what the scholars said about this extraordinary book
and its celebrated author.

It was an extraordinary event .

The monograph is a testament to the great
scholarship of this MahA VidvAn . The depth of
information covered , the rare insights on
the meanings of the individual words chosen
by GodhA PirAtti in Her ThiruppAvai bear
abundant testimony to Saara Saarj~nthvam of Swamy.
His title Saara Saaraj~nan means One who is
the commander of of the quintessential Knowledge
(on Sri VaishNavam in all its aspects). This title was
conferred on Swamy By the great AchAryan,Parama Padha Vaasi
HH the 42nd Jeeyar of AhObila Matam , Sri RanganAtha
SatakOpa YathIndhra MahA Desikan .

I can not praise adequately the greatness of the effort
in Swamy blessing us with this commentary of commentary
on ThiruppAvai . Because of his failing eye sight ,
he dictated all the content and thre ladies acted
as scribes to complete the task of prparing
the print ready manuscript .

It will not be easy to rush thru this book . There is
so much that needs to be enjoyed again and again .
This book is a life time companion .

Before seeing this book , I had nurtured some ideas
of translating this book into English for the benefit
of BhakthAs , who do not speak Tamil . I recognize
that it will be futile to translate this brilliant text .
I will translate some high lights however as time
goes by and intensify these efforts during
the coming Marghazhi Month .

Thanks Once again to all the BhakthAs ,
who have provided financial support to
make this dream come true .It is probably
the best thing we have done so far in our
lives .

P.S : Sri MahA Vidvan PerukkaraNai ChakravarhtyAcchAr
Swamy has seven more books in Tamil entitled:

1. SrimadraamayaNa SudhA
2. MummatasAram
3. Sri Ahobila KshEthra MaahAthmyam
4. TulA Kaaveri MahAthmyam
5. Sri Godha Sookthi SudhA
6.SarOddhAram
7. Tattva PrabhAsaNam

There are number of books in Sanskrit
(Sri Bhaashya Chandrika , Lakshmi Tatthva
NirNayam et al ) .

May I request any members of this group
visiting Chennai to bring with them a copy
of Sri Lakshmi Tattva NirNayam and send it
to me.It will be very useful in the context
of the ongoing postings on Sri GuNa rathna Kosam .
Thank you in advance .

I can not wait to prostrate before Swamy
at Sri Desika Bhavanam to express my gratefulnes
for his MahA kaimkaryams to the sampradhAyam .

Daasan , SatakOpan
