Once a married lady asked this of Sri RamaNa Maharshi. He replied saying that
the practice of SAdhana/Bhakthi may be pursued in whatever one's environment is. 
When she continued by citing examples of people who _did_ shed worldly life
in pursuit of Truth, His cryptic reply was that if she were destined to do so,
her question wd never have arisen!
