From the Bhakti List Archives

Members of prapatti:

Pledges received so far in response to the "A Dialogue on
Hinduism" series:

Sri. V. Sadagopan $50.00
Sri Vijayaraghavan Srinivasan $25.00
Sri Mani Varadarajan $25.00

I will match these contributions dollar for dollar.

I would like to urge each and everyone to make a
contribution. There are many good reasons for this.
Please let me highlighting just a few here.

1. "A Dialogue on Hinduism" is published by
     "Visishtadvaita Research Centre", the publishing
arm of Sri Ahobila Mutt, for the express goal of
     fund raising.

2. Organizations such as Sri Ahobila Mutt carry the
torch down from our poorvaachaaryaas Sri
Ramanuja, Swami Sri Desikar, and Manavala
Maamuni, etc. Great acharyaas of the future will
     rise from these organizations.

3. It is these Mutts that provide the
     intellectual/philosophical backbone for our
     sampradaya.

4. Srimad Azhagiya Singar who is nearing 71 years
has been constantly on tour all over India hardly
staying for more than 2/3 days in any given town.
This brings vibrancy and enthusiasm among Sri
     Vaishnavas about our tradition.

5. The Mutts provide financial support for the study
     of Vedas and Dhivya Prabhandams.

6. The Mutts provide financial support for fostering
bhakthi among general public. Just in the last
couple of months Sri Ahobila Mutt spent several
lakhs of rupees for the repair of the thEr and
reinstatement of ThiruthEr festivals in Vaduvoor
     and Ahobilam.

7. New publications are put out by Sri Ahobila Mutt
almost every month. An increasing number of
these are in English. This is critical for the spiritual
health of children of expatriates like ourselves.

And many more.... These activities put a heavy and
increasing financial burden upon the Mutts. So far, all of
the financial needs of the Mutts are met from generous
contributions within India itself from bhakthaas from all
walks of life. All we will be doing is joining them in a
small way. Sriman Narayana has placed us in this land of
plenty. The contributions we make are unlikely to be
much of a financial burden to us.

Have confidence that the heads of Mutts such as Srimad
Azhagiya Singar will spend the funds wisely. Don't
wait for a detailed budget for a specific project
before making a contribution. Please make a pledge
publicly so that others may be encouraged as well.
Make your check out to Sri Ahobila Mutt and mail it to:

May the blessings of Srimad Azhagiya Singar and Sri
Lakshmi Nrusimhar be with each of us always.
