It means good conduct. Knowledge without good conduct
is futile. Ramachandra while in Panchavati along with
Seetha and Lakshmana, Bharatha came there accompanied
by his mothers, ministers, purohiths, people and the
army and begged Srirama with a fervent appeal to return
to Ayodhya and be crowned the king. But Ramachandra did
not relent. He rejected either for Bharatha staying back
in the forest or he ascending the throne against their
fatherÂ’s wish. Even VasishtaÂ’s words were discarded by
Rama. In the end Jaabaali, the purohith tried his best
to convince Rama with his ‘na:sthika va:dam’
(na:sthik=a non-believer of Vedas) saying,“Don’t think
that following a dead fatherÂ’s wish gives him satisfaction.
Following oneÂ’s words after his death or feeding somebody
thinking that it would satiate his hunger are nothing but
foolishness. A father ‘alone’ is not responsible for one’s
birth. Hence leaving the kingdom and living in the forest
for the sake of the word given to him is stupidity.”

Srirama replied,”It is one’s duty to follow the path shown
by our elders and ancestors. Or else he would be drifting
from the path of dharma. People will dread him. If I become
the king unrightfully the subjects will also become unrighteous
like the king. OneÂ’s conduct is very essential."

If a slo:ka is not clear its explanation will enable a proper
understanding.A personÂ’s lineage, his purity and his bravery
can be explained only by his character. After accepting to
give the throne to Bharatha if I take it back due to your
pressure my character will be blemished. The world will laugh
at me seeing me impure. So I won’t come back.”

Controlling his anger on Ja:ba:li he says softly, “I don’t
know what to say of my father for choosing you as the purohith.”
This is SriRamachandraÂ’s endurance. He did not pay any heed to
his motherÂ’s words and followed dharma. Ramachandra proved to
the humanity that building up a good character is the most
essential thing.

Bhagavan too has ‘cha:rithram’. He carries on the
activities of ‘srishti, sthithi, and laya’. He never
leaves them. The BrahmamÂ’s movement is only this
universe. He is the chief administrator and the supporter.
It is His ‘parathva’.

Jaisrimannarayana!!!
