This actually makes a lot of sense. One clarification I would
suggest is that 'going to the temple' on a full stomach per
se is not wrong, but going and taking 'tIrtham' etc., on a
full stomach is what is advised against.  After all, during
utsavams, etc., we spend the whole day in the temple, before
and after meals.

If the rule is that food should be digested, one can wait an
hour or so after eating and then go to the temple.  This is similar
to the rule in the Catholic Church that one should not abstain 
from food for at least an hour prior to taking communion (eating 
the consecrated bread wafers known as "host").
