-Being a Srivaishnavaa, and to learn our core thathvams
-either the commentary on vedaa or upanishad, (someone referred to what Swami
-Vivekananda said about vedas and upanishad), Let it be Swmai Vivekaanandaa or
-any other, left to me I will choose Sri Raamaanujaa as a guru than Swami
-VivEkaanandaa and other such respected Swami's.

Dear sir, I have a lot of respect for you as
a man of vast knowledge and your posts are
doing a lot of service in increasing my
understanding of the teachings of Sri Ramanuja.

Permit me, as the one who quoted Swami Vivekananda,
to explain why I did so.

I know that Sri Ramanuja has a very different
interpretation of the Upanishad from the one
espoused by the Swami. But as far as the bare
facts are concerned, the Swami's knowledge
of the contents of the Upanishads is profound
and thorough; if he says heaven and hell
are not mentioned there, it is so.

This is not a matter of interpretation; it
is a question of mere content. This does
not mean we should swallow the Swami's
interpretation; but we can take his word
that heaven and hell are not mentioned
in the Vedanta or the upanishad.

Regards,
Raghu Seshadri
