Respected elders of the group,

I would like to know the purpose of "Tiruveedhi ula" of PerumAL and ThAyAr. May be it was applicable in the olden days; in the present day context we feel greatly hurt to see Bagavatha Goshti of the Veedhi ula carry PerumAL and walk through dirty streets(amidst all the human and vehicle impurities). Does it still serve the purpose.
