Swami Desika in his "Yathi Raja Saptadi" says thus:

Nanabhoothairjagathi samayairnarmaleelaam vidhitso:
Anthyam varnam prathayathi vibhoraadhimavyuhabhede!
Vishvam tratum vishayaniyatham vyanjithanugraha: san
Vishvakseno yathipathiraboodvetrasaarasthridanda:

Swami establishes the greatness of Shri Vishvaksena,
yet again. In this paasuram, Swami states that
Shriya Pathi takes 4 Vyuha forms:

1. Vasudevan
2. Sankarshanan
3. Pradhyumnan
4. Aniruddhan

In each of these, based on the chronology of the
respective yugas our Lord comes in white, red,
yellow and black forms. Our Lord conducts various
leelaas in all yugas.

In this, during the Kali Yuga, our Lord dones the
black colour and directs the Kali Yuga in his black
Vyuha Vasudeva form. Our Lord creates
Contradictory elements - elements that even
refute our Vedas-;
creates different faiths and also creates a set of rules
for each faith.

Our Lord does this as part of his leelaas in the Kali Yuga
where the Jiva gets distracted into other faith and loose
the basic knowledge on Parathvam.

It is a practice of wise Ministers to save the subjects
from the King's Wrongful / playful decisions.
Shri Vishvaksenar, decides to do his role - as per the
command of Shriya Pathi - that of savings the Jivas
to realise the Parathvam.

Shri Vishvaksena is knowledge personified. Our all
merciful Thaayaar is the Acharya for Shri Vishvaksena.
Shri Vishvaksena has been assigned the task of bringing
in errant Jivas to understand Parathvam and surrender to
Shriya Pathi. Towards this, Shri Vishvaksena heads an entire
army to protect the right and bring them to our Lord's abode.
Shri Vishvaksena always sports a whip in his self.

To save the Jivas and to make them understand Parathvam
Shri Vishvaksena arrived in the bhoo loga as Bhagavad Ramanuja.
He made his whip as the 'dhandam' [the long stick we always
see on the side of Shri Bashyakaarar].

Shri Vishvaksena, in his avatar as Bhagavad Ramanuja

** rendered Shri Bashyam;
** established the Visishitadvaita siddantha;
** argued, controlled and defeated other faiths
** taught and established to the world about Parathvam
** spread the importance of attachment only to the Lord,
** very importantly, explained our Divya Thambathi's Daya and
   demonstrated the way to reach our Lord and perform kaimkaryam
   to Shriya Pathi.

Swami Desika has immensely enjoyed the Daya of our Lord through
Shri Vishvaksenar who came into this world as Bhagavad Ramanuja
to help the Jivatmas to reach our Lord.
