Puttur, Trichi.

He has also mentioned who are saaththaadha mudhalis and who are saaththina mudhalis. However, followers/descendents of the saathinavar
are sometimes saaththaadhavar and vice versa. (example kandhaadai
aandaan). So it is somewhat irrelavant.

Of these I have met people who are decendents of nadaadhoor,
settaloor (Setlur, in Hebbar Iyengars), embaar, Kidaambi (kadami/kiLambi,
my mother's side), eechambaadi, naallan (chakravarthy, Rajaji, Actress
Hemamalini), aasoori (in Mandyam Iyengars),
mudumbai nambi/ammaaL (my father's side), vangeepuram and ilayavilli.

All these were saaththina mudhalis. I suppose that many decendents of
saaththaadha mudhalis dropped the titles sometime.

I doubt if anybody is still carrying the lastname/title of
matronRillaa maaruthicciRiyaandaan or kaattup piLLaan :-).

K. Srinivasan

Incidentally, I found that he has published lots of interesting books,
(all in Tamil). The Tamil alphabets are annotated by the suffixes, 2, 3
and 4, to obtain the required Sanskrit sounds. If any of you visit
Trichy, it will be worth a visit to his house and press in puththoor agraharam
Trichy. You can mention my name, (He won't give you a discount!).
