Srirangam Srimath Andavan Ashramam - Guidance for Upakarma and Gayathri Japam

Dear Bhagavathas:

This year's Rig/Yajur Upakarma and Gayathri Japam has to be performed on the same day (i.e. Saturday, August 4th 2001).  The information regarding Gayathri Japam to be performed on Sunday (August 5th, 2001) as per Sri Ranganatha Paduka (page 7, July 2001) is erroneous and need not be followed.  
 
Shisyas and abhimanies of Srirangam Srimath Andavan Ashramam are requested by Sri Karyam Swamy to observe the following sequence on Saturday August 4th 2001:    

1.  Kamokaareesheeth Japam 
2.  Gayathri's Japam 1008 times.
3.  Thiruvaradhanam
4.  After second Snaanam: 
     Avani Avitam - Upakarma, (Yagopaveetharanam and Deva Rishi, Pithru, Kanda Rishi Tharpanam).

Please follow the local day and time (August 4, 2001) for performing the japam and upakarma.
