Here is one more feedback on godai's poru kayal kaN from SrI MG Srinivasan (formerly from Chicago, now in Srirangam). adiyEn, Kalyani Krishnamachari ========= During a TiruppAvai upanyasam here in Srirangam temple a few days ago, the Swami who gave it happened to explain 'poru kayal kaN iNai', the phrase you have discussed in the Bhakti digest of today. Literally, poru = to do battle with. It is the tradition for Indian poets to say women's eyes look like fishes. Here 'poru kayal kaN iNai' means 'pair of eyes that compete with fish'. This is just the straight meaning. For svApadesa arthAs, we need to know the vyAkhyAnams. MG Srinivasan ---------------------------------------
