I am reminded of the thirukkuRaL:

"paRRuga paRRaRRaan paRRinai, - appaRRai
paRRuga paRRu vidaRku"

ThiruvaLLuvar has been variously claimed to be Jain, Agnostic, etc. etc.
Some chronological analysis will be interesting.
