Dowry and Adharma

Per the recent discussion dowry itself is being portrayed as evil
just as our politicians have been doing back in India.  However
looking into our history, dowry was established as a system by which
immovable property was inherited by the sons and movable property of
an equal value was given to the daughters.  The amount of dowry was
decided by the bride's father and the system worked in bygone days
when dharma was prevalent.  What we see today is the consequence of
greed and Adharma.  That issue has to be address at its root by
surrender to Sriman Narayana.  Without that evil in some form or
another will prevail.
