Srimathe Ramanujaya Nama:
Sri Venkata Gurave Nama:

Respected members of Bakthi list,

We emphasised till the last post that Atma is subservient to the Lord and it is
wholly owned by the Lord.
we continue to from the above:

Significance of MAkAram

66.MAkARAM signifies the Atma. Here Vyakartha and Swami Pillai Lokachar gives
details from Grammar to explain it.

67-68 The Atma which is signified here is for all kinds of people Bakthas,
Nityas and Mukthas.

69-70 Atma is different from Prakruti (nature) and it is different from the
body which is a achetana vastu. (lifeless object)
The author has explained this in a detailed manner in his other work called"
Tattavasekaram"

71. A flower has fragrance, a Gem light.
We infer flower from its fragrance and gem from its glow.
Similarly atma can be inferred only from its servitude (seshatvam) nature to
Lord.

72-73

Here Swami gives references from Azhwar pasurams

1.Thirumangai- "If iam a servant to the lord of Ganapuram, how can be a servant
to others?" _ in Vidaiez pathigam.
2.Nammalwar- "Thamariyal Kelvan oruvaniYE" I am servant ONLY to the Husband of
Sri"

74.To sum up, The meaning of Pranavam AUM

Akaram(A) and Makaram(M) signifies the Protector ( Lord) and Protected ( Atma)
respectively.
UkarAM(U) and the chaturthi word"aya" in "narayan'Aya'" signifies servitude(
Seshatvam)to Lord is the basic nature of Atma
and such servitude is only towards the Husband of Padmanabha Priya , ie
Sri.Lakshmi and our favourite Periya Piratti.

With this the meaning of Pranavam is concluded.
>From next post We will discuss the extended meaning of "Nama" patham in
Thirumantram.
