With reference to 'Significance of Arathi' by one of the members, this
Dasan tries to explain based on the Samskara Bhiksha of beloved Acharya
Sri Sri Sri Tridanci Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji.
The main purpose of Arathi itself is a very subtle but the most
important for all vedic-based religions. It is basically a
mangalasasanams to the Lord for removing all dOshams what so ever
real/imaginery on our Lord; like a mother who can't bear to see even
an iota of real/imaginery dOsham falling on her dearest child even by a
glance of any visitor who ever may be and thus does something or other
to evade such effects and she does'nt expect any other benefit out of
that. .. Similarly there is no other gain to be accrued to the devotee
in return out of the Arathi. Immediately after Arathi, the next
upacharams (Arghya Padya Aachamaneeya) follows. This should be the
true philosophy of any staunch/real devotee. Though Arathi is brought
to all the devotees in some temples it may be only to give an occasion
to put some coins (for Hundi.) and there is no other reason.
