Dear Sri Anand,

>It is said that Swami Sri Desikan wrote Sri Shodasayudha Sthothram
>to cure the people of Thirupputkuzhi of an epidemic.

I had the same doubt about a few months. Sri U.Ve.Sadagopan mama clarified the same for me.

Although the purpose of composing Sri Shodasayudha Sthotram and Sri Sudarshanaashtakam is popularly accepeted from the itihiyam point , the main purpose seems to me be that, Swami Desikan composed the two Sthotrams as a prayer to Sriman Naarayana in the form of Sudarshanar for sucess in composition of Para Matha Bhangam.

8 slokas of Sudarshanaashtakam+16 slokas of Shodashayuddha sthotram = 24 chapters of Para Matha Bhangam

Has swami desikan mentioned the phalam of the slokams in the phalashruthi slokam(s) in Sri Sudarshanaashtakam and Sri Shodashayuddha Sthotram?

adiyen ramanuja daasan,
