Nivedana Chat Room

From the Bhakti List Archives

• December 5, 1999

Dear bhAgavathas,

On the morning of Saturday, December 5, the sishyans of HH Sri
Tridandi SrimanNarayana Ramanuja Jeear Swamy successfully
completed a test of a voice based chat room called "Nivedana,"
that is located in Excite's set of chat rooms.

The members of the test chat included Sri Raghu and Sri Ravi in
Chicago, Sri Vamsi and Sri Murali Mohan of Sunnyvale, CA, and
myself in Denver. We were successfully able to conduct a voice
conversation and hear audio taped recordings of HH and his
sishyans. We began the test with HH's introduction to the 2nd
Chapter of Srimad Bhagavad Geetha, followed this with a wonderful
bhajan that was recited by Sri Parasara Rangaraja Bhattar of
Srirangam, and concluded with a brief introduction to prapatti,
lucidly described in English by Sri T P Ramachandracharya of
Simhachalam.

This voice based chat room will augment and eventually replace
the old ICQ software (that did not have voice capabilities) that
was used in the past to chat with HH. HH will be informed of the
success of this test and will be requested to periodically give
kAlakshEpams in English when his busy schedule permits. Between
these chats, taped recordings of previous kAlakshEpams will be
presented, followed by a brief discussion among the devotees who
are in attendance. Many of these taped messages will be in
Telugu, but we will make sure to play at least one English tape
per month. I will try and provide you with a brief synopsis each
week along with an announcement for the following week's topic.

The first official net chat using this new technology will be
taking place this Sunday, December 12, at 9:30 PM Central Time.
The first tape of HH's discourse in Telugu on Bhagavad Geetha
will be played, and will be followed by a short discussion.
There is currently a limit of 10 people in the chat room, so
those of you interested in participating should reserve a space
by contacting Sri Raghu: ramudu@us.ibm.com or myself:
msagar@uswest.net
