thiru adhyayana sEvai - part 13 - thanathan athisuvai maRanthathu thEnO !

Dear bAgawathAs,

unathan rahasiyam aRinthathu neerO
thanathan athisuvai maRanthathu thEnO
kuLirntha athisayam theRinthathuth ayirO
nalyuarntha arusuvaiyum irunthathu arangitthilanRO!

meaning:
When YOU bathe, or when thiru manchanam is performed to YOUR
thiru mEni, the holy water of thiru kAuveri when poured may have
learned about your vaseekara rashasyam (mAyAi) ? That homey when
is used for your thiru manchanam completely forgot its natural
sweetness as it was shy to even remember its suvai when it was
applied on the sweetest of all thirumEni. The yogurt usually
makes one feel cool. But when it was used in YOUR thiru manchanam
it learnt only then as to what is meant by a really good cooling
effect or "nalla oru kuLircchiyin thanmaiyai appozhuthuthAn
aRinthathu. Those fruit juices learnt the arusivai only when they
stayed on YOUR thirumENi for a while during thiru manchanam. ie.
YOUR thiru mENi's arusuvai is always present.

Ani or jyEshtA:
jyEshtAbishEkam: It is performed on the jyEshta nakshatthira in
the jyEshta or Ani month. The holy water is brought in the
morning on the elephant top in golden pot with pomp and music.
Holy water is also carried by priests in silver pots as they
walk following the elephant. perumAL and nAchiyArs are bathed in
holy kauveri water, milk, curd, honey and juices of sugarcane,
limon, mango, and other fruits. 1000 small cups are used and so
it is also known as sahasrabhishEkam. During this occassion
it is said that the moolavar is also offrred a sandalwood oil
specially prepared by the temple and in the presence of Sri
ranga nArAyana jeer. The prasAdhams are offered to the "nija
thirumENi" without any oranmental attire. In the after noon the
prasadham is a special offering of 1000 cups of rice spread over
the holy floor of the azhagiya manavAlan thiru mandapam.
jyEstAbhishEkam is also done for thAyAr and chakrathAzhwAr on
the following friday and saturday respectively.

18m perukku:
This day is the 18th day of adi. Lord namperumAL goes to Sri AmmA
mandapam. A mangal sutra, a new saree, a garland of perumAL, and
veRRilai pAkku, prasadhams are taken on top of the elephant back
and carried to the water rim and thrown into the water. The
idheeham is that the Lord takes the river thiru kAuveri as
HIS spouse and grace her on this day.
