 Dear Devotees,
Emperumaanin Thiruvarulaal, adiyen would like to inform about the avataar of Lord Hanuman.
Yes u r correct He is avataar of Lord Shiva only. If u ask me how, then read the story below;-
Once upon a time, when Ravana had done such a tapas even none of the Devas had it, by thinking that into mind Lord Shiva had given "Siranjeevi " to Ravana which Ravana too accepted as part of His blessings. Now seeing that Devas could not tolerate because Ravana is Asura and there will be always problem if some of the other asuras get power from Gods (if we come across our Puranaas). Now, devas decided to have end for the Ravana and they deputed Naratha to ensure that Ravana's siranjeevi pattam is returned back to Lord Shiva !!!
Naratha is in Lanka now and apprising all qualities of Ravana and ultimately he felt sorry because Ravana did mistake , Ravana did not understand the conspiracy of Naratha, he kept on asking what is his fault on Tapas because Ravana always believed Naratha' advices ! Ultimately Naratha revealed that Ravana should not have taken the Siranjeevi pattam which is not good for Asuras as they(asuras) always enjoy pleasure and ectasy. Naratha explained in such a way that a living being has to born and die to enjoy the attachments which he has. Siranjeevi will make Ravana see his generations only, will never be able to enjoy like other beings. Ravana admitted that what Naratha says is correct. Hence he wanted to return back the siranjeevi pattam to Lord shiva and wanted to die and born again to enjoy the pleasures in life.
Again he started doing tapas and Lord Shiva appeared infront of him asked what he needs, Ravana said he does not want to be siranjeevi instead he wanted to die and born again . Lord Shiva said once given is given , never taken back, so Lord refused but Ravana insisted on taking back that . Ultimately, since it is His duty to give what a Bhakta asks, Lord Shiva took that siranjeevi pattam back.
If one can notice, that Law of Karma says that for every action , there is an equal and opposite reaction. Lord Shiva or Lord vishnu always takes care of their Bhaktaas in one or the other form eventhough they are not destined to get the enjoyments in life, yet they provide depends on the trust we have on Him. Now, since Lord shiva had only the given the Grace to enjoy as Siranjeevi , He only had to take it back and It is His duty to ensure that He only had to become Siranjeevi and also ensure that RAVANA IS KILLED !!!! -- Law of Karma is applied by Lord Shiva Himself. that is why in Tamizh, we have a proverb says, "theethum nandrum piRar thara vaaraa" if we have perfomed some action, we have to face the consequence. It is applicable to Lord Himself ! When they follow the system deployed by them then only other living beings will accept and follow .
It is because of this, Lord Shiva took a form CALLED HANUMAAN and helped Lord Rama to kill Ravanaa..... ! That is why still Lord Hanumaan is SIRANJEEVI !!!!!
Hence by worshipping Lord Hanuman, we indirectly worshipping Lord Shiva and we chant Rama mantra which directly connects us to Lord Rama . Hanuman is the only Lord who enjoys chanting His favourite character name rather His name !that is why when we worship Lord Hanuman , we MUST chant Lord Rama's name, than His name to get His blessings. No other Gods have this kind of Magnanimity and humbleness.
Kindly excuse grammatical mistakes if any. But this is the history many of our Bhaktaas did not know. By taking Hanuman form Lord Shiva also wanted to spread the importance of "Rama mantra" to humankind ! without Hanuman form, I think Ramayana itself would not have completed and we would have missed a Great Rama Bhakta and His Ram Matra !!!
Om Sri Rama Jayam !
Sri Rama Jaya Rama, Jaya Jaya Rama !
 Om Vayuputrane potri !!!

Is Hanuman an amsam of Shiva?
This has been lingering in my mind for a very long
time.
In the Hanuman Chalisa there is a line that says.
'Shankar suvan kEsari Nandan tEj PratApa MahA Jag
Vandan'
