SrI:
SrImathE Ramanujaya namah:
Dearest Srivaishnavas,

After he grows bigger, Yasodha has stopped giving Him her milk and he goes
around everywhere and gets to know everyone; Now she has decided to send him
for rearing cattle and calves; which will also prevent him from getting bad
names from other complaining about His divya chEstithams.

But having done that, now she longs to see Him, as He is away most of the
day time. Feeling remorseful, AzhwAr enjoys Yasodha's anubhavam of missing
the Kutti KaNNan... for a whole day:-(

1. dark coloured one; cow herd dressed (Lord in guise of cowherd Boy)
darling son; having bathed Him, in order not to let Him loiter in the house
of others, I have sent those (tender, ornament worn) lotus feet (that kicked
Kamsa) go behind the calves.. what have I done! (paavam)

He has got aprAkrutha ThirumEni (divine body) which is explicit from His
dark blue hued divine body. So, He has simply dressed like the cowherd Boy.
He is handsome tender leaf-like Boy (kolak kozhundhu). If the tender leaf
swings due to the wind on its own, nothing happens to it; while if others
try to touch, it becomes worn out. Similarly, when he loiters in others'
houses on his own, nothing happens whatever He does. But I have forced him
to go behind the calves; hence he will wear out.

Also, if the root gets lack of water or food, then the tender leaves show
the sickness; Similarly if the devotees are made to suffer, He feels and
gets to the task of removing their sorrows (Thus, He kicked Kamsan as he was
the cause for His devotees' worries.) We should have performed kaimkaryam to
such graceful, merciful lotus feet. instead, oh no.. I have made them go
behind the calves. Thus, i have committed mahaa paapam (great sin).

2. applying the turmeric powder on His Divine body after bathing Him, in
order not to let Him go and spoil the small sand houses buildt by young
girls of cowherd group, I have sent my darling boy go behind the calves,
through the thick dust arising out of calves running towards the forest
where hunters are also there. I have committed great paapam.

The turmeric powder are applied by the girls to check if it is good turmeric
and testing on His Body; Also it could be interpreted as Yasodha applies
turmeric after bathing; why should she apply for a boy... Perhaps, she has
sometimes dressed Him as a daughter; or it may be that all small children
undergo this turmeric after bathing.

All males go out behind big cows. Small boys go behind the calves; only
women remain. Thus, Yasodha narrates her sorrow and feeling guilt to all
women. Thus, she starts with young girls wholse small houses were kicked off
and spoiled by Kutti.

There may also be hunters, thieves in the forest. How will He know? His
visibility also gets poor due to the dust raised by these calves; He won't
even know if and when they come. She feels scared and worried.

3. Without letting him play with the young girls who wear valuable gem
bedecked golden waist band everyday on the road rasing dust everywhere
(while playing), I have sent my maNivaNNan behind the stone laden forest
which echo the sounds (from the mounatins therein). I have committed mahA
paapam.

Those young girls whose small sand houses were kicked and spoiled have now
realized (or grown up a little) and have become pally with Him; their gem
bedecked, golden waist band gets further glitter and brighness when they
play with Him who is if blue hued gem Himself and who also wears such
valuable waist band as well. From here, she has sent Him to the forest where
the dust is raised everywhere by the calves; one can never see each other.
They call each other by shouting which raises echoes from nearby stones (and
mountains). Thus, from ponmaNi and nanmaNi to kalmaNi. My darling
maNivaNNan;
He Himself is a Blue gem. blue hued coloured Lord.

4. Extremely difficult to think of Him; (yathOvAchO nivartthanthE aprA Apya
manasaa sa:) sweet and bhOgyam to eyes; - He is KaNNan. About such kaNNan,
the dark long tressed girls come complain to me variuos things, and (while
they do so), He does some more mischief in their house.. Thus, without
letting Him do such (great) mischivous deeds, I have sent Him behind the
calves to the forest. I have committed great sin.

One can never think of Him- meaning: KaNNan will do this today; He will not
do this today. One can never surely say that. Thus, difficult to think
(guess..). Let Him be in the forest. We can meditate His ThirumEni in our
minds- one can never easily attain that (without His grace). Even Brahma
rudrA et al find difficult to meditate om Him and when such lord is here in
our midst in front of us, should we enjoy Him or send Him to the forest?
Dasaratha could not utter that word. Oh no! I could easily utter that. Mahaa
paapi. At least let some come and complain about Him. At least I can hear
about Him and His dhivya chEshtithams. By hearing His stories, we can do
dhyAnam. That will facilitate darshan. Those who miss Him in vibhavam, thus
can enjoy Him in archaa muRthy in dhivya Desams. Then enjoying Him, devotees
talk and hear about Him.

5. Wheveever women are alone at any part of the day, He goes there and
become frienldy with those cowherd women, and give them His insatiable
bimbha fruit like lips for them to enjoy. In order not to let Him do that, I
have sent this God of demigods (Devadevan) to the forest where hunters
continuously aim the small arrows from their catapults. I have committed a
mahaa paapam.

6. The butter when eaten does not show its path in the neck. It is so smooth
and tasty that it goes in without being seen from outsdie. thus, He swallows
the butter gulp after gulp. And then he goes to other places to do various
other mischief. Thus, He roams (like a small elephant) everywhere in the
Ayar paadi. I have sent my darling son behind the calves to the forest where
huge elephants roam. oh mahaa paapam.

7. Without letting those creeper like narrow waisted women complaining
directly to me about His playful pranks and mischief along with other boys
of His age jumping and playing everywhere in this place, I have sent the Him
(Master of GarudA) behind the calves, to the hot forest, where even plants
and leaves become dry.

The narrow creepr like waisted women when came running, theor waists appear
as if they are going to break. This Boy even while listening to such
complaints jumps with joy and plays with the boys of His age merrily. Even
when and if he rides on garudA, the bird wonÂ’t able to walk in that hot
forest. In such a place how is Kutti KaNNan walking! I have committed a
great paapam.

8. Twelve months havng kept Him inside my uterus, and having fed Him
lovingly with my breastmilk keeping Him on my waist, He has grown like a
male baby lion. Such my darling Kutti KaNNan- I have sent Him now early in
the morning itself behind the calves to the forest, letting His tender, soft
lotus feet pain with exertions.

Like Rama, he was also there in Garbha vaasam for 12 months. How can she
tell that He was in her stomach? Because she was not aware of the same yet.
But she (meaning PeriyAzhwAr) earlier sang: Devaki singamE thalElO... why?
It may be interpreted that, Yasodha has the same love and affection like the
mother (Kowsalya) who had Him for 12 months inside. With this
interpretation, KaNNan need not have come out after 12 months.

9. I am a cruel one. Damodharan- my son- I have sent Him bare foot without a
chaapal and an umbrella to the hot forest, where the stones due to their own
heat, break into pieces and house heat of the scorching sun. mahaa paapam.

I have sent Him forcibly everyday. At least I could have given Him th
chappal and an umbrella. She had already bought the same before. But due to
excitement (that He is going like the fellow boys), he had left without
picking them up.

Last pAsuram, He was in her waist and grew drinking her milk. Now He is
damOdharan- having the rope marks around His waist. thus He is so
mischievous. So, we need to send Him to the forest for sure. We could have
planned the chappal and umbrella as well.

10. Sweetest to me ever; Blue hued Lord- my darling son- I have sent Him to
the forest behind calves- said YasodhA- these songs was born out of Sri
Bhattanathan of SrivilliputthUr - the Swamy of its residents who live in the
houses of golden balconies. Those who read and learn these sweet (in meaning
and in words) Tamil verses will have no sorrows at all.
