Dear BhakthAs :

As the debate on the excellence of the different 
ArchA mUrthys continues , I thought I will intersperse 
the divya naamAs from Swami Desikan's Sri Sookthis 
(primarily ) and compose a few songs and gadhyams 
to offer my salutations . To those , who are knowledgable 
in Sanskrit , please excuse any errors that creep in 
during the samarpaNam of these naama kusumaanjalis .

These songs are part of the series on  
Sri lakshmi Narasimhan , Sri Oppiliappan and 
Sri HayagrIvan posted earlier . 

The following krithi could be sung in Revagupthi
or BhouLai Raagam and salutes the SIX EmperumAns of 
ThirumAlirum Solai  ( Sundararaajan) ,Thiruvantha-
puram ( Sri PadmanAbhan ), Vada Mathurai ( Govardhana
GirIsan ) , ThirucchitthirakUtam ( GovindarAjan ),
ThUppul ( Deepa prakAsan ) and ThiruveLLUr
( VeerarAghavan ) .

Notes : (1) SundararAjan of ThirumAlirumchOlai is 
            recognized as Azhagan or the most 
            beautiful and auspicous sObhana gAthran.

        (2) GodhApriya Govindha Raajan refers to
            the Kaimkaryams done by the GodhApriyaa
            Committee of Chennai (viz)., RathnAngi ,
            Mutthangi for Oppiliappan , MaaNuickka 
            KOndai , Emerald Parrot and Navarathna 
            Jata Kothsu for Bhumi Devi( October 11) , 
            two Mutthu Kondais for ANDAL of SriVilliputthUr 
            and RaaNi Sevai for ANDAL at SrivilliputthUr
            planned for samarpaNam on October 10 , 1998 .
            The AbharaNams for Oppiliappan and Bhumi Devi 
            can be seen in the Home page for Sri Oppiliappan .

         (3) NaadhAchala Deepa Prakasam refers to 
             the light (nanthA ViLakku ) that shines
             (Sudarittu niRkum jYothi) on the hill 
             made of saptha svarams or Saama ghAnam .

          (4) VeekshAraNyam is the KshEthra naamam 
              of ThiruveLLUr , where SaalihOthra 
              Maharishi did penance to have the blessings
              of Veera Raaghavan .

       (2)His dEvi is HemAbhja Vallee ( Kanchana Padma Vallee )

       (3)BhagavAn's feet are pressed gently by Lakshmi 
          and Bhumi Devi ( SamvAhitha Paada Padmam )

       (4) He is the most enjoyable , insatiable amrutham
          (Parama BhOgya AparyApthAmrutham ).Here salutation
          to the Lord of Thirukkudanthai is also included 
          since Aaravamudhan is AapryApthAmuruthan .

Notes : (1) Gopapuram is one of the names for ThirukkOvalUr ,
            where He is worshipped also as Aayan or the divine
            Cowherd. 

        (2) His VimAnam is revered as Srikaram 

        (3)  dEhaLIsan : One who appeared at the dEhaLi
             or the in between space , rEzhi , which is
             in between the door and the inner chambers .

         (4) PaNNA tata Vaasinam : He has taken His 
             residence on the banks of PeNNai river .

         (5) Upamardha Saham : One who put up with the 
             squeezing by  the three AzhwArs at the narrow
             space of a dEhaLi in ThirukkOvalUr .

         (6) SarO BhUtha VethALa Suri: refer to the three
             Azhwars , Poygai, BhUtham and pEy , who blessed
             us with the first three thiruvandhAthis .

         (7) KamalA nirapAyam = One who is never separated 
             from MahA LakshmI ; even in Vaamana avathAram
             as a BrahmachAri , the Lord hid His consort
             under the deer skin attached to His sacred thread .

         (8) ThripathagA kaaraNam = The cause for the birth
             of GangA , when BrahmA washed the rising feet of 
             the Lord as it shot past Sathya Lokam .

         (9) Kapata Vaamanam = One who deceived MahA Bali
             by assuming the vEsahm of a dwarf BrahmachAri 
             and asked 3 feet of earth as dhAnam and took 
             over all the thre worlds .
