Dear Rajeev:
Short of undoing the Brahma mudicchu (knot )
and reknotting it at a convenient length after
cutting off the excess thread and reconsecrecating
it , there are no short cuts like making another
knot for convenience .This is not recommended .
The easier thing is to acquire another YajnOpaveedham
from the Pomona Temple priests (by mail) or from local
temple priests and replacing the current long one with
the proper sankalpam .
